The 3 Movements of An Bealach ar Ais, Composed by Michael Rooney. A suite of music commissioned by Cavan Monaghan Music Generation for Cruinniú na nÓg 2021. Cruinniú na nÓg is a flagship initiative of the Creative Ireland Programme’s Creative Youth Plan to enable the creative potential of children and young people.

Details of 3 Movements:
Movement 1: Aonrú - refers to isolation. Even though I live in Sligo which is only 60 miles from Monaghan, I have never felt as isolated from my home and my parents, Mackie and Pauline. This piece captures the isolation and loneliness felt during the lockdown.
Sult - refers to enjoyment. This piece captures the sense of joy and freedom to meet with musicians to play music again. This piece is dedicated to the you musicians from Monaghan/Cavan Music Generation. Meeting and playing with them was a joy and my first live musical experience in 18 months.
Dóchas refers hope. The feeling of this piece is excitement and hope - hope for a new future and new possibilities.
